I want to welcome you to my new blog, which is entitled “The Word on Politics.” As this name implies, the purpose of this blog is to shine the light of God’s Word into the political arena, upon culture at large, and upon contemporary geo-political trends. Of God’s Word, the Scripture, Psalm 119:105 declares, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” The light of Scripture is not designed to be confined exclusively to spiritual or ecclesiastical matters. The Bible was inspired and written in such a way that it speaks to every area of life, including matters taking place outside the four walls of the church. Because the Bible speaks authoritatively about government, family, and morality, etc…the purpose of this blog is to let the Bible speak to the great moral, social, and political issues of our day. Many of these “culture war” issues are currently being fought in the political arena. This blog will regularly allow the Bible to speak to these matters.

Thus, this blog will differ from the typical “right vs. left” political paradigm. Instead, it will seek to analyze every area of life from the lens of God’s Word. While I am a registered Republican, this blog will make no effort to promote loyalty to a political party, but rather, will advocate fidelity to the Scripture. In recent years, I have found myself quite disillusioned with my own party. I have had to “hold my nose and vote for the lesser of two evils” on more than one occasion. Since the Scripture will be the authority here, this blog will be an equal opportunity offender as far as Democrats and Republicans are concerned. After all, there is plenty of progressivism, humanism, and non-Biblicism to scrutinize in both of America’s major parties.Do I possess any tangible credentials allowing me to comment on such matters? If you will take a look at my biography under “About the Author,” you will see that I have had academic training in Theology, Political Science, and Law. Professionally, I am a pastor, Bible and Theology professor, as well as a licensed attorney (although I am not practicing law at the present time). This background allows me to observe the intersection of culture and Scripture from a unique vantage point.

This blog will make no effort to promote loyalty to a political party, but rather, will advocate fidelity to the Scripture.

For some time now, I have been posting snippets on Facebook (FB) of my observations and reactions to various current events, which have been available solely to my FB network. Because of the positive feedback I have received from this activity, I have now opted to present this material to a wider forum and audience through regular blogging. Thus, this blog will deal with many issues in the news that people are talking about; including, but not limited to, globalism, nationalism, borders, education, America’s Christian heritage, limited government, unalienable rights, the rights of the unborn, civil rights, persecution of Christianity, the global agenda of Marxism and Islamo-facism, Israel in the Middle East, end time prophetic patterns, etc…My desire is to bring a uniquely biblical perspective to these and many other issues through weekly (and perhaps bi-weekly if time permits) updates.

I believe that it is high time for the Word of God to have a say among the plethora of clamoring and competing voices in our land seeking to influence the direction of public policy.

I hope that you will return here regularly, as we take this journey together. Even if you are a novice to the world of politics, this blog is still for you. All that is really necessary to become a regular reader is to be a lover of truth and to hunger to see it applied to all of life.
I am also interested in any thoughtful feedback you may want to give in the “response” section of the blog. If in your heart of hearts, you agree with the content and direction of this blog, I hope that you will share it and spread its influence throughout the various electronic and social media outlets that are available to us today.

God bless!!!
Sincerely, Dr. Andy Woods
